*Giggle*

I know it's too early to count the Damn Yankees out, but it pleases me no end to read an ESPN headline entitled, "Bronx Bummers".

The vaunted Yankees lineup have gone 14 straight innings without scoring a run against Detroit.

Friday night:
The poor little Yanks went 0 for 8 with runners in scoring position.
They were shut out by Kenny Rogers, who just ain't all that.
The "Big Unit" Randy Johnson gave up 5 earned runs.
Damon, A-Rod, Giambi, Abreu, and Bernie Williams all went 0-fer in the game.

I'd only be happier if Jeter had done the same... or if last night's game had shut the door on the Yanks' season.

Instead, I'll cringe my way through this afternoon's game.

Update, for any who didn't hear our victory cheer: The Yankees lost 3-8, and are now done with baseball until next season. YeeFuckin'Haw!

Yankee hating is so deeply satisfying. I'm in favor of the 5 games division series just because they seem so bad at it.

Go Tigers!

You...are an asshole.

The end.

Yankee hating has become a full contact sport I see. Out of all the bums I actually like Damon because he used to play here and when he was here he was a really nice guy.

I'm with Syd.

Yeah, but freakin' Jeter just scored.

Ahh... I guess syd and Val can cringe. Ah, well... there's always next year.

There won't be a next year if karma continues to dog them. Buy the league, have the biggest payroll. Lose in the first round.

Seems right to me.

Oh we'll be back....we'll be back better than ever! mua ha ha!

I went to look up your location -- and surprisingly it didn't say "Boston"! Hmm.

Well at least NY is still "in", we got the Mets to hold on to!

Cheers!

Nice... I'm rooting for the Mets. What team is yours, by the way?

Hey Val - I like the Astros, and I've become a fan of the Orioles since I moved up hereabouts. Yes, I can really pick 'em!

I'll confess to being a Yankee fan. But I also root hard, hard, hard for the hometown team, in spite of Tony LaRussa.

Wendy, as long as you're not a Red Sox fan, it's cool!

WOW!! I had no idea that Yankee dissing had such a following!!! I thought it was just amongst some of my friends who are die-hard Blue Jays fans.

I have to confess that many moons ago (I was 14 or so) I lived, for 2 years, in NYC with my family....fantastic experience on sooooooooo many, many levels. I was a fairly big Yankee's fan at the time but then we moved again and having a small fickle streak in me...I never gave much thought to the Yanks again!!! Since settling where I am now I am a true blue Jays fan....:)

No need to worry too much about the Yankees, they'll always be around for those of you fans of lesser baseball clubs to hate.

As long as the Red Sox fail, I'll consider it a one-up for the Bronx Bombers!

Sigh. There is a world beyond Boston and New York. One of the reasons the BoSox and the Yankees are disliked by many...their fans think they're all there is. Peggy Lee was not singing about the northeast corridor. :)

Says you, pal!

"One of the reasons the BoSox and the Yankees are disliked by many...their fans think they're all there is."

Oh, we know that there is life beyond The-House-That-Ruth-Built and Fenway Park. It's just that all other baseball rivalries pale in comparison.

I don't even like baseball, I find it intensely boring, but I was raised on Phil Rizutto, Thurman Munson, and Yankee baseball on WPIX, Channel eleven.

I'll love the Yanks until the day I die.

It can't be helped, friend. It's bigger than me.
