*Forgive the Enya reference. Yes, that's what that is. Stop laughing.
The problem with trees is they have leaves.
The problem with leaves is they fall.
The problem with fallen leaves is they inhibit the growth of grass. And make the yard look like crap.
The problem with fallen leaves in suburbia is one can not rake or blow the fuckers to the woods or whatever. One must break one's back bagging them.
One must get off her ass and go deal with the leaves.
Ah well, at least it isn't so damned cold today.

Leaves do suck! But I'll spare you a "gloating" urban moment when I say my yard is the size of a postage stamp, and the city provides a "yard waste" dumpster ;-).
OTOH, I don't know how I can spare you commentary on the Enya reference ;-).
The Enya reference made me dry heave.
...and don't think I didn't realize that "blowing them into the woods" is a redneck shout out to moi.
I still want to know why it is no one told us about all the leaves and pine needles falling, and all the damn pine cones we'd be dealing with, when we talked about buying this house!
Our little town allows for the leaves to be raked, swept, or blown to the curb-into a pile-where they sit and wait for one big truck to push them to the corner. Then days later, another big truck picks them up--in the meantime-many of the leaves have found their way back to the lawn from which they were cleared-valiant little buggers that they are.
Eventhough the yard is small..the leaf situation is not.
Our little town-stupid when it comes to leaves.
In our town you can not bag them. We have to rake them to the curb and the city picks them up to compost them.
people rake leaves?? hhmmmmmm I just keep mowing over them till the snow flies!
our leaves (or perhaps many of our neighbors leaves) are one of the main reasons we are already planning our imminent move.
i love the enya song. i am alone on this?
Zoe, you say "cannot bag them in our town" like it's something bad! I envy those who rake only to the curb. I wanna rake only to the curb, dammit!
It was a good days work, Wen. :)
The yard looks great! ... well ... better!
At times I hate and resent that we have a "green can," the capacity of which is all the yard trash we can collect. Those times are few and far between.
Happy yard work.
I LOVE trees more than anything.
Luckily Doris (& her grandkids) did the raking!
